Dynamo-generated turbulence and outflows from accretion discs

چکیده

Local hydromagnetic simulations of accretion-disc turbulence currently provide the most convincing evidence that the origin of turbulence in discs could be the Balbus{ Hawley magnetorotational instability. The main results of such calculations are highlighted with particular emphasis on the generation of large-scale magnetic elds. Comparison with mean- eld dynamo theory is made. This theory is then used to address the question of the launching and collimation of winds emanating from the disc surfaces.

Outflows from dynamo-active protostellar accretion discs

An axisymmetric model of a cool, dynamo-active accretion disc is applied to protostellar discs. Thermally and magnetically driven outflows develop that are not collimated within 0.1AU. In the presence of a central magnetic field from the protostar, accretion onto the protostar is highly episodic, which is in agreement with earlier work.

Effect of the temperature profile of the accretion disk on the structure of jets and outflows around protostars

Magnetic fields play an important role in creating, driving, and in the evolution of outflows and jets from protostars and accretion disks. On the other hand, the temperature profile of the accretion disks may also affect the structure of the magnetic field and outflows. In this paper, we use the self-similar method in cylindrical coordinates to investigate the effect of the temperature profile...

Computational aspects of astrophysical MHD and turbulence

The advantages of high-order finite difference scheme for astrophysical MHD and turbulence simulations are highlighted. A number of one-dimensional test cases are presented ranging from various shock tests to Parker-type wind solutions. Applications to magnetized accretion discs and their associated outflows are discussed. Particular emphasis is placed on the possibility of dynamo action in thr...

Coronae & Outflows from Helical Dynamos, Compatibility with the MRI, and Application to Protostellar Disks

Magnetically mediated disk outflows are a leading paradigm to explain winds and jets in a variety of astrophysical sources, but where do the fields come from? Since accretion of mean magnetic flux may be disfavored in a thin turbulent disk, and only fields generated with sufficiently large scale can escape before being shredded by turbulence, in situ field production is desirable. Nonlinear hel...
